Some of the gloss may have gone off West Indies cricket in recent times, but that has not diminished the passion and excitement of a sport that is loved throughout the Caribbean.

What makes cricket in the West Indies so special is not just what happens on the field, as a day at cricket offers much more fun and entertainment than just wickets and runs.

Barbados has a special place in the cricket world because over the years our small little island has produced a bevy of outstanding cricketers, who later became household names.  Superstars like Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Everton Weekes, Gordon Greenidge, Wes Hall, Charlie Griffith, Desmond Haynes and Joel Garner still attend the test matches and mix freely with cricket fans, while former heroes like Sir Frank Worrell, Sir Conrad Hunte, Sir Clyde Walcott and Malcolm Marshall have passed to a higher calling.  What a collection of cricket brilliance, and all from a little island in the Caribbean that has a population of just over 275,000 people.
