The Barbados Football Team is not as well known as Trinidad’s Soca Warriors or Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz, but the national team has an international presence and competes in regional and World Cup Qualifying competitions. At club level the game is very competitive but until it goes semi-professional it has limitations that will drive the best players overseas.
Visiting clubs tour Barbados and the attraction is the warm tropical weather and the friendly welcome. The best-known football festival is the Barbados International Masters Football Festival that is held at the end of May every year and attracts teams from the UK, North America and neighbouring islands. Masters football is big in Barbados with two divisions of eleven teams vying for bragging rights over five months every season. But the big tournament is the International Festival as it involves teams that have been coming to the island for years.

Sporting Barbados magazine was introduced in 1998 and remains an annual sports tourism publication that extols the virtues of the sporting and leisure activities of Barbados.
It is particularly valuable to prospective visitors as it not only covers the main topics, but it gives a plethora of information about activities, attractions, the island, the people, the culture and just about anything a tourist would want to know before they arrive, or while they are here.
