The Barbados Hockey Federation is the governing body of the sport and takes responsibility for the selection and development of the national teams, the local leagues, and it can assist visiting clubs and schools in tour arrangements.  The Federation also oversees the prestigious Banks International Hockey Festival through a Festival Committee.

Senior League hockey has both Men’s and Ladies sections and throughout the season all the action is centred on the Astroturf.  Matches are played in the evenings when the air is cool, but the action is hot.  The Barbados National teams are amongst the best in the Caribbean region, and at club level the local teams have an impressive record against visiting teams.

The Banks Festival is a break from the competitive hockey season.  Barbados may not be world class in terms of its international hockey status, but it has a world-class facility at the Astroturf, and a climate that many countries would die for.  And therein lies the big attraction to visiting clubs and schools, as every year hundreds of hockey enthusiasts visit Barbados.
