The Barbados Tridents scraped home by one wicket with two balls to spare against the Antigua Hawksbills on Friday night after a batting nightmare they will want to forget quickly. This was CPL Twenty20 cricket in its prime as the Hawksbills defended a modest 129-8 with plenty of fighting spirit in front of a fiercely partisan local crowd. You don’t need big scores for excitement in Twenty20 cricket and after losing their first four wickets for only a handful of runs the visitors had their skipper Marlon Samuels (66) to thank for reaching a a total they could defend. It looked modest, but after Wednesday night’s century maker Dwayne Smith fell for a duck in the first over it became an exciting see-saw tussle with batsmen falling at regular intervals until the Tridents squeezed home in the final over.
It sets up a great tussle with the strong Guyana Amazon Warriors on Saturday afternoon.
Don’t miss it!
