Legendary British stunt driver Terry Grant will return to Bushy Park Barbados, where he achieved his 20th Guinness World Record last December, for the Valvoline Glassesco John 'Tiny' Harrison Memorial Race Meet on March 28/29 . . . and island fans will enjoy a double dose of thrills, as he will be partnered by the UK’s Number 1 stunt bike rider and European Champion, Lee Bowers.
Tickets are on sale now, on-line at www.bushyparkbarbados.com , from the Circuit Office, all Automotive Art outlets, Glassesco and Sol Warrens and Speightstown.
Grant and Bowers are both performing this coming weekend at The Fast Show at the world-famous Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire in the British Midlands, before flying south on Monday to prepare for an action-packed weekend at Bushy Park. Their machinery is already on its way, Bowers bringing one of his Kawasaki stunt bikes, while Grant is bringing three cars from his Monster Energy and Power Maxed-supported stable.
He will drive the Legend in which he entertained hundreds of school-children across the island during ‘The Barbados School Tour - Inspiring a New Generation’ initiative before the Race Of Champions, the Nissan Juke in which he established his 20th World Record over ROC weekend for the most people in a car on two wheels – 15, including the driver - along with a Nissan 350Z, which will be used for car dancing routines.
Grant, who celebrates the 20th Anniversary of his first foray into stunt driving this year, was an instant hit on his first visit to Barbados, not only at Bushy Park, but also across the island, as he worked tirelessly during the build-up to ROC weekend with a series of public displays. As well as his regular roster of jaw-dropping stunts, Grant expanded his repertoire with some spectacular jumps, along with Robby Gordon, in his Stadium Super Trucks, which had the crowds on their feet.
Bowers, who is sponsored by Kawasaki UK, Icon Motorsports and Maxxis Tyres, was fascinated with motorcycles as a youngster, first riding at age 11; he competed in his first stunt competition in 2009 and his first overseas display tour a year later, 54 shows in Bahrain and Dubai. Since then, he has won countless competitions and travelled the world to entertain.
He says: “I feel complete when riding my bike. It's like the rest of the world stands still. I like to bend the laws of physics, to change people's perceptions about what you can do on a motorbike. I can't wait to perform to the max with Terry for the crowds on the beautiful island of Barbados.”
BPMSI Chairman Sean Maloney said: “We are really lucky to have been able to fit a trip to Bushy Park into Terry’s incredibly busy schedule, and I can’t thank him enough for agreeing to come back – he was in South Africa last weekend, flew home for Santa Pod, then is hopping straight back on a plane for Grantley Adams. Hopefully, we will be able to arrange a few extra displays while he is here – keep an eye on our Facebook pages, Bushy Park Barbados and BPMSInc, to keep up to date.”
Promoted by Bushy Park Circuit Inc (BPCI), the Valvoline Glassesco John ‘Tiny’ Harrison Memorial Race Meet will include the opening rounds of Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc’s (BPMSI) 2015 Championship: the provisional timetable lists three races each for the Club’s car racing classes – Clubman 1 & 2, Modified Production 1 & 2, Supersport 1, 2 & 3 and SuperModified 1 & 2 – plus three for Motorcycles, along with end-of-day Hilti Handicap races for cars and bikes. The 20-race programme will also include the opening round of the yet-to-be-announced Suzuki Challenge Series.
