The main promoters of this event are Louis Venezia and Christopher Clarke who have formed an organization named Surf Promotions (Barbados) Limited. Their main objectives is to promote Barbados as a sport tourism destination and to increase the volume of international visitors to Barbados. Annually over the past four years they have hosted, through the Barbados Surfing Association a very successful World Surf League Pro Junior surfing event held at the world renown "Soupbowl" at Bathsheba beach. This year they have been asked by the Barbados Tourism and Marketing Incorporated (who have been in the past and still are major sponsors of this event) to take the event to the next level. In doing so they have launched a World Surf League 3000 Qualifying World Tour event for men and women. The WSL Qualifying World Tour is a combination of events which takes place at various locations all around the world to pick the top finishers to join the elite 2018 Men's and Women's World Championship Tour. The inaugural Barbados Surf Pro Men's and Women's QS3000 will take place over six days from April 11-16 2017 at Drill Hall Beach, located behind the defense force on the south coast of Barbados. There are currently 176 entries (128 men and 48 women seen below) from 21 countries attending. This event will be the largest surfing event ever held in the Caribbean and will also be followed on all social media outlets, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snap Chat. The event will be featured on the WSL main webpage before during and after the event and will also be broadcast live world wide through a webcast feed. I have attached some photos of Zander Surfing at Drill Hall.
