The man they called “whispering death” in his playing days has thrown his full support behind the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Michael Holding is now a well-known broadcaster not short of an opinion on many key issues within the game and he feels the new Twenty20 Competition will help boost cricket in the region. Holding will be the Ambassador for the CPL Development Programme.
The tournament starts in late July but the development programme is planned to start in January 2014 and will involve contracts for 60 young players, six each from the franchise areas.
