REDLINEFUELS.COM TO SPONSOR SEPTEMBER SAFARI
Product prizes for successful crews
Redlinefuels.com has stepped in to sponsor the September Safari, round four of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2013 Chefette MudDogs Safari and Chefette MudDogs Safari Novice Championships, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 15.
Redlinefuels.com’s Barry Gale, who won the 2005 BRC Navigational Championship - the title back in the day - as Driver to Neil Barnard’s Navigator, said: “The initial sponsor was forced to pull out at the last minute. I have been both an organiser and a competitor in the Club for many years, so I wanted to help in some way, even if it was just donating prizes.
“Then I realised that it would be a good way to showcase the products that we sell at Redlinefuels.com, so I suggested that we could in fact sponsor the prizes, but that they would be products from our range. The exact make-up of the prize list is not finalised, but I feel that competitors would appreciate winning products that can be used in their vehicles, so something like High Performance ULS (ultra low sulphur) Diesel or High Octane Racing Gasoline for overall winners, then fuel additives for runners-up.
“And we even have a prize from The Village Salon in Holetown for the highest-placed female driver and navigator . . . in case they would prefer some pampering instead of a drum of fuel!” In addition to the Redlinefuels.com prizes, there will be gift vouchers from Automotive Art for the winners of each route.
Route-setters for the Redlinefuels.com September Safari are Richard ‘RC’ Daniel and Kreigg Yearwood. Crews are asked to arrive for Scrutineering at Simpson Motors in Warrens, St Michael, by 7.00am on Sunday, September 15, with the first crew scheduled to leave the start at 8.00am.
Of the challenge facing the MudDogs, Daniel said: “Kriegg and I have completed our work, and the routes have already been checked by Pete Bradshaw. After an interesting course, which will see the competitors traversing the northern parishes, they will head east to lunch at the Sand Dunes Restaurant on the Ermie Bourne Highway. After the lunch stop, they will have a challenging route through the eastern parishes finishing at the Three Houses Plantation.”
Yearwood added: “The route has not been set to get anyone lost or frustrated, but there will be the occasional 'tricks'. The majority of the event is tulip, with a short section of BRC and a short section of straight-line. If the weather is like it was last weekend, it will be a lot of fun for the drivers.”
Entries are already open at Motorsport Services in Haggatt Hall and will close at noon next Tuesday (September 10); the Briefing Meeting will be at 7.00pm the same evening, at the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association Club House at Searles, Christ Church, after which the entry list will be published. The Prizegiving for the Redlinefuels.com September Safari will be held at the same venue on Monday, September 16, once results are made final.
