It's countdown time to the popular Mount Gay Regatta which sails off in Carlisle Bay from May 16th - 19th!

A highly fancied duo of yachts from Martinique heads the challenge, while other competitors from various countries including Trinidad and Tobago, St Vincent and the Grenadines and the Virgin Islands have confirmed their participation.

Mount Gay Brand Manager Peter Samuel said Mount Gay Rum was synonymous with sailing across the world and Barbados was no exception!

A new format change to the classification system was announced by head of the organising committee Stephanie Brooks.   For the first time in the history of the event, the Mount Gay Regatta will be governed by the Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA) classes including CSA 1.2.3 and Simplified, in addition to J24.  This system replaces the previous classifications which included Cruising A, Curising B, Racing A, Racing B, Melges and Multihull.

The public were advised that the best places to view the event were along the boardwalk on the south coast. Dive operators were also asked to provide visible dive flags so sailors could clearly see divers and give them a wide berth.
